Sehwag and Laxman praise Indian women, congratulate for reachin

  • Indian cricket team booked their seat in the semi-finals of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup on Thursday after beating New Zealand. The players were outstanding yet again and after the match people started to shower praise on their efforts. Even former players like Virender Sehwag and VVS Laxman took to social media for the same.

    Indian eves became the first side to cement their place in the semi-finals of the ongoing mega event. They defeated New Zealand by four runs to secure the seat in a thrilling encounter. Shafali Varma, the rising start once again showed her calibre and scored 46 off just 34 balls after being asked to bat first. Even though she gave a good start the team could score a mere 132 runs. Then the bowling unit showed their brilliance to restrict the Kiwis to a lesser score. The low target was defended successfully by Indians and they reached the semi-finals with flying colours.

    The fans and experts started praising the young players. Virender Sehwag took to his social media account and especially mentioned about Shafali Varma. Sehwag called her a rockstar and shared his pride. "Wah bhai Wah! Great effort by the girls to hold on to their nerves and beat New Zealand and qualify for the semi-finals of the #T20WorldCup Shafali Varma is a rockstar. Anand aa raha hai ladkiyon ka performance dekhne mein," Sehwag tweeted.

    Former legend VVS Laxman also came up with applauds for the team. He congratulated the Indian women team for qualifying for the next stage. He also named Varma and praised the bowlers as well. “Congratulations @BCCIWomen on a wonderful win against New Zealand and qualify for the semifinals. The bowlers were excellent in defending 132 and Shafali Varma has been absolutely top class for India. Well done girls. #T20WorldCup," Laxman tweeted.”
