5 Questions You Must Ask Before You Book A Destination Wedding

  • The article underlines the checklist you must follow before you book a venue for your marriage.

The popularity of destination marriages in recent years gave birth to a number of venues offering world class facilities to make your event unique. Destination weddings are in trend from past few decades, but at that time venues specializing in providing these facilities were few. But couples today have several choices including private villas, island, beaches and hotels all offering a perfect marriage setting.

Although the choice is ample, not every option provides same service quality and amenities. Just a decorated room, buffet dinner arrangement and a flower bouquet aren’t enough to exchange marriage vows uniquely. So what qualities one should look for when selecting or booking a venue. Below are certain questions you must ask the owner before booking the venue.

Here are a few points to consider.

    1. Ask since when the venue has been holding destination marriages. How many weddings have been held here? If the venue has an in-house marriage planner, how much experience he/she has? You should even ask the owner to introduce you to the wedding planner and discuss your ideas with the planner directly.

    2. Ask for testimonials from the couples who got married at the venue you are thinking of. You can contact the bride directly to know her experience. Also, there are several sites online like forum discussions that discuss about different venues and publish genuine customer reviews.

    3. If you are planning to get married legally, check that the venue is able to deal with essential paperwork involved both pre and post wedding ceremony. At times legal issues ruin marriage excitement. Therefore ensure you ask this question particularly.

    4. Make sure you are provided with a comprehensive and accurate breakdown of all the cost of your transportation, decoration, accommodation, meals, drinks, reception and other arrangements etc. and there are no hidden charges to be added at a later stage.

    5. If you are sure of the number of guests who would be attending your marriage ceremony, enquire about group bookings like do they offer discounts or offer on group bookings. Even if the venue doesn’t provide such discounts, you can ask them to suggest you a nearby accommodation for your guests.

After asking these questions, sit and ask yourself whether you are satisfied with the responses given by the venue owner. If not, search for another venue.
