  Fortnite Was Created by Epic Games, the manufacturers of Gears of War, and launched in Summer 2017 as a paid Historical Access name. The fortnite weapons was to allow people to pay to jump in and play the game in a previous, beta testing state, while turning the match into a free-to-play title supported by compensated loot boxes in 2018.
  
  The game was actually much different than the popular version that everyone players today. It was originally a combined tower defense and action sport. Up to four friends and internet players can jump into games together and select a map with a goal. From there everybody ran around collecting loot while constructing bases and protecting from waves of enemies.The action was light-hearted and reflected the cartoony art style, but the gameplay was fair and repetitive.
  
  "Fortnite" technically refers to two different game modes, which have since evolved into two different games: Fortnite: Save the World and Fortnite Battle Royale. The original tower defense game mode became called Save the World when Fortnite Battle Royale was published.
  
  Last year PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds (PUBG) was warming up as a very popular online game, featuring a Battle Royale free-for-all.
  
  Battle Royale is a subgenre of aggressive online shooters and action games. It takes its name in the 2000 Japanese film where a category of teenage students are captured, dropped onto an island, and forced to kill one another to survive. Think authorities mandated Lord of the Flies.
